As Peter Drucker once said, you cannot manage what you cannot measure, and I think it’s very true for digital marketing.

In this video, we’re going to talk about the top-level metrics every business owner should be tracking.
Let’s get straight to the point.

1) Website & traffic metrics. Go to your preferred analytics platform and dive deeper into what’s going on on your website in terms of traffic- how many visitors you have, where they are coming from, what’s the bounce rate, and so on.

2) SEO metrics. Anything you can get from Google Analytics or Google Search Console – from how people are finding your website to how they are engaging with your website, is extremely important. If you want to take one step further, start looking at keyword positioning and keyword ranking you’re trying to optimize your website for.

3) Paid advertising. If you want to get more leads and more traffic or build up your brand, you need to track these metrics. See how many clicks you get for a certain period, whether you’re getting conversions, how much revenue you get as opposed to the cost that it’s taking, etc.

4) Social metrics. Whatever business pages that you have on social media, you should be tracking their effectiveness too. See how all the social media channels are performing for you and whether it drives traffic to your website.

5) Lead generation. The ultimate goal of running a website, optimizing it for SEO, and promoting it via PPC ads and social media is to drive more leads to your business. Track how many leads you get from your efforts to see what brings most results and what needs enhancement.
